Workshop “Trainers in Anthropology and Emerging Epidemics” – Dakar

September 28, 2021

Compte-rendu

Atelier « Formateurs en Anthropologie et épidémies émergentes »

Projet Sonar-Global, Réseau Anthropologie des Epidémies Emergentes

Organisation CRCF, IRD (TransVIHMI)

Report

Workshop “Trainers in Anthropology and Emerging Epidemics”

Sonar-Global Project, Anthropology & Emerging Epidemics Network (RAEE)

Organized by CRCF, IRD (TransVIHMI)

28-30/09/21, Gorée (Dakar)

In a pandemic context which highlights the needs in terms of expertise in social sciences on epidemics, the CRCF/IRD team of Sonar-Global Project has developed teaching materials (curriculum, slides, manual, trainer’s guide) for the training of researchers or Masters level students in social sciences. The RAEE, through some of its members, participated in the early development of these tools in French. In order for these tools to be finalized, appropriated and adapted for West African countries, this workshop brought together in hybrid format (face-to-face, distance) around fifteen researchers who provide trainings in the following countries: Burkina Faso, Benin, Senegal, Guinea, Ivory Coast, France. The workshop, held in French, was also an opportunity to discuss current research projects on covid-19, and to consolidate the links between research centers, the RAEE network and the Sonar-Global Africa hub based at CRCF Dakar. The Workshop was funded by GDRI RAEE (IRD) and SoNAR-GLOBAL (CRCF).
